What is the difference between a group and a team? Please be specific. Which would you prefer being a part of and why? And can you work with people on a group or team that you may not like and/or disagree with? Why or why not? Please provide examples and illustrations of your response.
Teams are organized groups, working toward particular goals were each member perform a specific role. They are usually arranged in a professional setting, laid back setting, and family setting. In today’s’ business world, if you are not a team player you have a slim chance of reaching higher position. Teams are very good environment for learning and achieving at the sometime. Unless you are a senior manager you won’t get the chance to pick your team members. A team player has to be willing and able to work with anyone. Team members may have deferent point of views about a particular matter and that is a good thing. They don’t have to agree with each other all the time. However debate and discussion is the key to reaching an agreement. A group is just a collection of people with something in common, such as students in the same classroom working on a project. I usually perform better working on a project with a team. Team formation enhances my chances of learning more and getting better experience from a project as a consultant.
ReplyDeleteA group consists of from three to fifteen people who share a common purpose, feel a sense of belonging to the group, and exert influence on each other. A team is a coordinated group of people organized to work together to achieve a specific, common goal.
ReplyDeleteDepending on the situation I would work with both teams and groups. I work better in general with groups vs. teams, in groups many ideas bounce off of people and there is no one leader. People are more prone to express their feelings and provide good insite into a project or problem. With teams, there is usually a lead person that is in charge of everything and it’s very hard to express your ideas on how things work with a team leader. Either way groups seem to be better when you need to figure something out that requires a lot of input and teams work better in making those ideas come to life.
